If you try to plant a thought that is repugnant to that person, it has less of a chance to work.
Magick doesn’t give an unfair advantage. There are other variables that must be considered. Other people’s will, irrational biases, prejudices, and misinformation can play a role in negative outcomes with magickal tarot spells.
The mental state of the person doing the spell can influence the energy field. If feeling negative, bad, angry or unstable, then it can attract like-energy to swoon around the person ‘performing’ the spell. Thus, getting back what was dished out can be a real threat to the worker of the spell.
